Two things do the work. Cutting reduces each piece to a fragment of the whole figure, so no single hexagon carries enough of the pattern to resemble the slab it came from. Tumbling then abrades every face, which lifts the dark veining and lightens the overall tone. What arrives is a soft, even mid grey with quiet darker incident rather than the high-contrast stone the name might lead you to expect.

That makes it the grey counterpart to a Carrara hexagon: same size, same finish, same behaviour underfoot, but cooler and a shade darker, and without the milky warmth Carrara carries. Where a scheme wants stone rather than white, this is the straightforward substitution.

The practical case is the same as for any tumbled two-inch honeycomb. Joint density gives footing on a wet floor, a broken surface forgives an imperfect substrate and disguises the etching acids leave on any calcitic marble, and the eased edges keep the geometry legible from standing height. Seal the sheets before grouting.
